Kachava Review: Superfood Powerhouse or All Hype?

by Joe Costello, CNC | Green Drinks & Superfood Drinks

Kachava meal replacement supplementIn the ever-expanding market of superfood supplements, Kachava stands out as a prominent player, offering a comprehensive superfood meal replacement shake. The company calls it “The Whole Body Meal.” This Kachava review aims to provide an extensive examination of the superfood supplement, delving into its ingredients, nutritional value, taste, potential benefits, side effects, and considerations for potential consumers. Let’s dive in to find out whether or not this is truly a whole body meal, as they call it.

If you’d like to discover what I believe to be the top superfood supplements on the market, click here: Best Superfood Supplements. Spoiler alert: Kachava is NOT one of them, and I do NOT recommend Kachava in general…you’ll see why in the next section of the review. I actually had a very bad negative personal experience with it, which is what I’ll get into next.

By the way, I took a close up photo of what the Kachava shake actually looks like after it has been mixed, and it’s pretty gross. As you can see from the photo I took below, it looks really gross, but it honestly tastes even worse…the texture is just awful.

My Kachava Results And Personal Experience (After 30 Days)

Kachava whole body meal replacement shake close up viewAs a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach, I feel obligated to personally test supplements before I can confidently recommend them, so I went ahead and tried Kachava myself. I figured in order to give it a fair shot, I’d have to take a full 30 day supply of the Kachava whole body meal, which is exactly what I did. Here are my personal results…

To start, I found it very difficult to consume Kachava in general…the taste was bad, the texture was gross, and the consistency made it very hard to swallow. Simply in terms of the taste and the experience of actually consuming the product, I don’t think it could get any worse than this…it was rough.

Now let’s move on to the health benefits (or lack thereof). This part actually makes me angry to write about because I spent $70 bucks on this supplement, and all it did was wreak havoc on my digestive system. My personal side effects included bloating, gas, and other gross gastrointestinal issues I will spare you the details of.

In terms of results, I didn’t really notice any benefits…even after taking it for 30 days. I guess the only positive thing I can say about it is that it did make me feel full, which I guess makes it an effective meal replacement supplement…but that’s about all it did for me. In terms of meal replacement, sure it gets the job done, but I didn’t personally experience any other health benefits.

Bottom Line: I had a very negative personal experience with Kachava and would never recommend it to any of my clients or readers due to the combination of my bad experience with it and my analysis of the nutrition facts as a Nutrition Coach. I experienced no actual health benefits whatsoever and actually had some pretty bad side effects, plus it had poor taste and texture.

Kachava Ingredients

Here are the primary Kachava ingredients…

Plant-Based Proteins

Kachava prides itself on being a plant-based superfood supplement, and a cornerstone of this claim lies in its protein sources. Typically, Kachava incorporates pea protein, a high-quality plant-based protein that contains all essential amino acids. This is a crucial component for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet, ensuring they get an adequate protein intake.

Superfoods

The term “superfood” has become synonymous with foods rich in nutrients, and Kachava lives up to this expectation. Ingredients such as spirulina, organic maca root extract, chia seeds, monk fruit extract and kale are commonly found in Kachava, providing a diverse array of vitamins and minerals, and antioxidants. Spirulina, for instance, is a potent source of protein, B-vitamins, and iron.

Fiber Content

Fiber is a vital component of a balanced diet, contributing to digestive health and satiety. Kachava often includes fiber-rich ingredients like chia seeds and flaxseed, promoting a healthy digestive system and helping individuals feel fuller for longer.

Essential Vitamins and Minerals

To round out its nutritional profile, Kachava typically includes a mix of essential vitamins and minerals. These micronutrients play key roles in various bodily functions, supporting everything from immune function to bone health. The inclusion of a broad spectrum of these nutrients can be particularly beneficial for individuals with specific dietary restrictions.

Taste and Texture

One of the critical factors in the success of a meal replacement shake is its palatability. Kachava aims to strike a balance between nutritional density and enjoyable taste. The flavor profile can vary depending on the specific product variant chosen, with options ranging from chocolate to vanilla. I personally went with the chocolate flavor and thought the Kachava taste was absolutely awful. The texture was really gross too.

A good meal replacement shake should mix well and not leave an undesirable aftertaste. Users often praise Kachava for its smooth consistency when mixed with water, milk, or plant-based alternatives, but I don’t understand why some people like the Kachava taste. I found it almost impossible to consume personally.

Kachava Benefits (Claimed)

Convenience

One of the primary draws of Kachava is its convenience. In our fast-paced lives, finding time for a nutritious meal can be challenging. Kachava offers a quick and easy solution, providing a nutrient-dense option that can be prepared in minutes. Now let’s get into the actual nutritional benefits…

Nutrient Density

The wide array of superfoods packed into each serving of Kachava contributes to its nutrient density. For those who struggle to meet their daily nutritional requirements through whole foods alone, Kachava offers a convenient way to bridge the gap. With that being said, you’d be better off just getting a superfood powder or a protein powder in my opinion.

Weight Management

Meal replacement shakes are often used as part of a weight management strategy. With controlled portions and a balanced nutritional profile, Kachava can serve as a satisfying option for those looking to monitor their caloric intake. However, if you want to get weight loss results using a meal replacement supplement, you still need to maintain a healthy diet and regularly exercise. A meal replacement supplement is simply not enough if you’re looking for weight loss…make sure to maintain a healthy diet and hit the gym! You’re not going to lose weight just from taking a supplement (hopefully that’s obvious).

Athletic Performance

The inclusion of ingredients like pea protein and beetroot (a common component of some Kachava variants) suggests potential benefits for athletic performance. Pea protein, in particular, has been associated with improved muscle recovery and growth according to certain clinical trials. My recommendation is to just buy a pea protein supplement (see details in the next section) instead of wasting a bunch of money on Kachava, which is not the “whole body meal” it claims to be as far as I’m concerned. The company makes a lot of health claims that just didn’t occur for me personally.

Pant Based Protein Powder

Many meal replacement supplements, including Kachava, derive their protein powder from plant-based sources. Plant based protein powders are often rich in essential amino acids and can be suitable for individuals following vegetarian or vegan diets. My number one recommended protein powder is actually plant based, and it’s a much better supplement than this one. Plus, it actually tastes good…really a delicious shake in my opinion, unlike Kachava. Plus, it has a wide range of nutritional benefits and actually contains enough protein to produce results, which again is not the case with Kachava in my opinion. Last but not least, it’s significantly cheaper.

Fiber Content

Fiber is crucial for digestive health, and meal replacement supplements may contain a significant amount of dietary fiber. Adequate fiber intake supports healthy digestion and helps maintain a feeling of fullness.

Balanced Macronutrients

Kachava is formulated to provide a balance of macronutrients—proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. This balance helps sustain energy levels and can be beneficial for individuals with specific dietary preferences or needs.

No Artificial Additives

Some meal replacement supplements, including Kachava, prioritize using natural ingredients and avoiding artificial additives, colors, and flavors. This may appeal to individuals seeking cleaner and minimally processed dietary options.

Gut Health

According to their website, Kachava can help improve gut health. However, if you read my personal Kachava review, you will find that this was not the case for me. It actually negatively effected my gut health, which was ultimately why I stopped taking it. In my opinion, it doesn’t contain enough probiotics or digestive enzymes to help improve gut health, and that’s the problem. Meal replacement supplements are difficult for your body to digest without the help of digestive enzymes, prebiotics, and probiotics.

Does Kachava Cause Side Effects?

As with any nutritional supplement, individual reactions can vary. While Kachava is designed with a focus on plant-based, whole-food ingredients, individuals with specific allergies or sensitivities should carefully review the product’s ingredient list. Additionally, one of the Kachava side effects people reported on the reviews I looked at on Reddit and Amazon was an upset stomach and other digestive issues. This is likely a result of your body just trying to get used to the sudden influx of nutrients, but it’s worth noting regardless.

Kachava Reviews From Real Users

My personal Kachava reviewAs with all my reviews, I like to base the majority of the review on the supplement facts…the science. Why? Because the science can’t lie. People can be paid to write reviews, and fake reviews do exist…but the science never lies. With that being said, I have found that it is always helpful to personally test the supplement myself and additionally take a look at verified customer reviews from other people to get a better idea of how people are liking the supplement. We’ll start with my personal experience using Kachava…

I wanted to be thorough when writing this review, so I checked out what I believe to be the best places to find trustworthy customer reviews: Amazon and Reddit. I looked at both, and here’s what I found…

Kachava Reviews on Amazon

I was able find over 8,000 reviews of Kachava on Amazon. It received an average rating of 4.3/5 stars, which is pretty good. However, as I mentioned before, a lot of people were complaining about side effects including upset stomach and digestive issues. With that said, it does appear that most people are relatively happy with the product. 8,000 reviews is a pretty good sample size, and 4.3/5 is a pretty good average score.

Kachava Reviews on Reddit

Reddit is probably the safest place to find real customer reviews because it’s almost impossible to find fake reviews and/or paid reviews on Reddit. In my personal experience, Reddit reviews are generally very trustworthy, and you can find a lot of good debates on there between various users who quite obviously have actually tried the product.

The Kachava Reddit reviews are actually very negative for whatever reason…they sing a much different tune than the Amazon reviews. On Reddit, almost all of the people talking about Kachava are complaining about it, with the primary complaint being that it’s simply a waste of money and doesn’t seem to produce any noticeable results.

The Most Watched YouTube Review of Kachava

To take things a step further, I went on YouTube to find if there were any good video reviews worth watching. I found this channel called “Fitness & Finance” where the guy says he took Kachava for 4 months. I’d recommend checking this video out to get an even deeper look into the product…

Last but not least, Ka’Chava has a 1 out of 5 star review on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, which is literally the lowest rating you can possibly get from the BBB. Additionally, from what we can find, the brand almost never responds to customer complaints. It just looks like they don’t seem to care much about customer experiences.

Kachava Price Point

While Kachava provides a convenient and nutritionally dense option, it’s essential to consider the cost. Meal replacement shakes can be relatively more expensive than whole foods. Potential consumers should weigh the convenience against their budget and dietary preferences. Based on the Kachava price being currently set at $69.99 according to their website, I personally think this stuff is WAY overpriced.

Is Kachava Worth It? My Conclusion

Kachava meal replacement shake and scooperThis Kachava review aims to provide a detailed overview of the supplement, covering its ingredients, taste, potential benefits, and side effects. As a Certified Nutrition Coach, I have to say I would NOT recommend this product to any of my clients or readers. It just isn’t nearly as good as some of the other top shelf superfood powders, doesn’t contain enough superfoods per serving (SFPS), and isn’t worth the price in my opinion. On top of all that, I had a negative personal experience, which doesn’t help Kachava’s case. I also am concerned with all of the scary gastrointestinal side effects I read about on Reddit (and experienced myself), which makes me feel very uncomfortable recommending Kachava.

Kachava FAQs

Is Kachava really good for you?

It would appear to me based on the nutrition facts that Kachava is probably not bad for you. However, I am just a Nutrition Coach, not a doctor. This is question you really should be asking your doctor. The most I can say is that I don’t see any red flags on the supplement facts panel. On the flipped side, I also don’t see enough positive things on the SFP for me to feel comfortable recommending this…I just don’t like this supplement from a nutritional standpoint.

What are the negative side effects of Kachava?

Amongst all of the Kachava reviews I read on Amazon and Reddit, the most common side effects reported were upset stomach, bloating, gas, nausea, and even diarrhea. Basically the bottom line is that many people seemed to experience some sort of digestive health issues and/or gastrointestinal problems. The only other negative I could find was people saying it was simply overpriced and doesn’t work.

Is it OK to drink Kachava every day?

According to the company, yes it is okay to drink Kachava every day. They recommend taking one serving daily in their directions on the back of the bag. I can not speak personally as to whether or not that is advisable, but I would assume they would not write that on the bag unless there was no issue with it. It appears that it is safe to drink every day, but I’d consult your doctor first.

How much does Kachava cost per month?

At the time of writing, Kachave costs $69.95 per bag (a bag is a one month supply) according to their website. With that said, specific product prices, including those for Kachava, can vary based on factors such as the product variant, quantity, and any ongoing promotions or discounts. Additionally, companies may update their pricing over time.

Will Kachava make me gain weight?

Kachava could very possibly make you gain weight if over used. The reason I say that is based on my evaluation of the nutrition facts. It is very high in sugar at 7 grams per serving, high in fat at 7 grams per serving, and especially high in carbs at 25 grams per serving. These numbers may not seem high, but if you compare these numbers to that of other superfood supplements, you will see that they are actually very high. Top shelf superfood supplements contain almost no sugar or fat at all.

Is Kachava high in sugar?

In my opinion, and speaking comparatively with regard to high end superfood powders, Kachava is high in sugar. It contains 7 grams of sugar in every serving, which is 6 grams more than the superfood powder I personally use contains. Generally the whole point of a superfood powder is to avoid things like sugar, fat, and carbs, but Kachava is high in all three (again, comparatively speaking).

Does Kachava have Caffeine?

According to the Kachava website, Kachava contains low levels of naturally occurring caffeine. From what I can tell, they are saying that yes it does contain caffeine, but how much caffeine depends on the flavor you choose. They say that the Chocolate flavor contains caffeine due to the use of cocoa powder, and the Matcha flavor contains caffeine due to the use of Matcha (obviously). So, it depends on which flavor you pick, but yes…it contains caffeine.

Who makes Kachava?

Kachava is a product created and produced by the company “TRUWILD.” TRUWILD is a health and wellness company that focuses on providing natural and clean nutritional products, including superfood meal replacement shakes like Kachava.
