Best Testosterone Booster SupplementsThere is no doubt that trying to find a good testosterone booster is a bit of a pain, but fortunately, I have taken the time to do most of the work for you. As a Nutrition Coach certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), I have carefully analyzed and personally tested several testosterone boosters in order to determine what I believe are the best testosterone booster supplements.

Before reading this, it is important to understand the essential focal points of my review process. I take into account the ingredients, the ingredient dosages, label disclosure of ingredient amounts, overall potency, my personal experience, and reviews from other users. I even had my testosterone levels checked before and after I personally tested these supplements to ensure that they were working, and I got amazing results…more on that later.

What are testosterone boosters?

Testosterone boosters are natural supplements designed to stimulate increased testosterone production from within the body. Other methods of boosting testosterone levels such as testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or testosterone gels have been known to be very problematic and produce many side effects.

However, natural testosterone boosters tend to be much safer and more effective since they get your body to produce more of its own testosterone instead of forcing it to use synthetic testosterone. If you have low testosterone levels, I would be careful with synthetic solutions such as testosterone therapy or testosterone gels. With that said, I am NOT a doctor, and you should always consult your doctor.

Whereas Testosterone Therapy and Testosterone Gels give your body fake testosterone to use, testosterone boosters can cause your body to produce the real thing, which is much more beneficial and doesn’t create the side effects caused by fake (or synthetic) testosterone.

Testosterone supplements contain natural, herbal ingredients that are meant to work synergistically together to increase free testosterone levels. The best testosterone booster supplements do an excellent job of testosterone enhancement, whereas some of the inferior ones are often pretty useless. If you’re serious about boosting your testosterone levels, you need to pick the right supplement first, and then be sure to combine it with weight lifting exercises and healthy eating habits.

What are the best types of testosterone booster ingredients?

1. D-Aspartic Acid

D-Aspartic Acid has been clinically tested and was shown to stimulate the release of luteinizing and growth hormones in the brain, which then can directly trigger increased testosterone production.

Due to the simple and reliable science behind D-Aspartic Acid’s ability to boost testosterone levels, it can be found in the vast majority of effective testosterone boosters. With that being said, it can also often be under-dosed…

We recommend utilizing a supplement that contains at least 2,000 MG of D-Aspartic Acid per serving, since this is the dosage size that has been clinically proven to produce benefits. Our top ranked test support supplement contains 2,500 MG, which is the highest dosage we have seen on the market. I personally tried it, and my testosterone levels were through the roof. I even went to a doctor to get my testosterone levels tested before and after taking that supplement (Testogen), and the difference was massive.

2. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is another absolutely crucial ingredient when it comes to Testosterone Boosters. Some ingredients can be helpful but are considered optional…this is not one of those ingredients in my opinion. Fenugreek is yet another nutrient that you need to see on the label…otherwise, you need to look for another testosterone booster. Here’s why…

It contains saponins that are believed to potentially increase levels of sex hormones in men including Testosterone, Androgen, and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Until the discovery of Fenugreek, there was no safe and natural way to increase androgen and testosterone levels, which is why this nutrient is absolutely revolutionary…I recommend a dosage size of at least 100 milligrams per serving since that’s what I have found to be effective for me personally.

3. Zinc

Zinc supplementation has been shown to increase blood flow to the penis, improve erection quality, increase testosterone levels, and boost nitric oxide levels. All of these benefits serve to improve your sexual health and performance, which as we know, is one of the key concerns of men who suffer from Low Testosterone.

When you’re examining the nutrition label, look for a dosage size of about 25 milligrams per serving as that seems to be the sweet spot when it comes to Zinc’s ability to increase testosterone levels. If the Zinc dosage is too small, you simply will not get the results you are looking for. I very carefully vetted and tested all of the top supplements on this list, and they all have about 25 MG of Zinc.

4. Tribulus Terrestris

Tribulus Terrestris is a nutrient that is very commonly used to boost testosterone. Many men who suffer from low testosterone levels actually take it on its own to help boost their testosterone levels.

Just like all other ingredients test boosters utilize, it is a natural and herbal nutrient. With natural supplements and natural ingredients, you generally don’t have to worry about severe side effects, and not many have been reported with Tribulus Terrestris specifically.

Tribulus has some research supporting its efficacy with regard to boosting testosterone levels, but it has significantly less scientific research than the three ingredients listed above it.

5. Ginseng

Ginseng is an ingredient that is commonly found in test boosters due to its ability to help increase libido. Men have been using this ancient herb to enhance libido long before testosterone boosters were even around.

However, we generally don’t recommend single-ingredient methods of increasing testosterone levels. It’s always best to use a comprehensive test booster that utilizes multiple ingredients in order to optimize your results and improve your body’s response. It is not easy to increase testosterone levels, so naturally, the supplement can not be simple either. It needs to be comprehensive and very carefully formulated.

6. Muira Puama

Muira Puama has its place in a test booster formula due to the scientific research showing the effect it can have on men’s sexual health. Some studies suggest it can support blood flow and even block acetylcholinesterase, thereby allowing more blood to enter the genitals. That makes this ingredient particularly interesting for men with erectile dysfunction, but it is certainly by no means intended to treat erectile dysfunction. It may help, but there’s not enough evidence at this time to support the theory.

That being said, as a result of the theory behind it, one could surmise that Muira Puama could play a role in helping improve the quality of the user’s erections. There’s not a lot of evidence for it playing a role in directly boosting testosterone levels, but it certainly seems promising with regard to sexual health as a whole.

7. Tongkat Ali

Tongkat Ali is another ingredient that is commonly found in test booster supplements due to the belief that it can potentially separate testosterone from SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin), thereby increasing free testosterone levels.

It contains what are known as eurypeptides, which are said to be the reason it is able to effect sex hormone binding globulin. More studies need to be done to support this theory, but it’s certainly an intriguing ingredient with regard to helping increase testosterone levels.

8. Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto is a natural ingredient that is most commonly used to increase sex drive and potentially help produce testosterone in some individuals. Some of our favorite and top ranked test booster formulas will not contain this nutrient, but that’s simply because there isn’t evidence that it directly helps produce testosterone.

With that being said, there is some evidence that it can improve libido. If your main goal is to enhance your sexual health, Saw Palmetto is an ingredient worth keeping an eye out for when searching for a T booster.

What are the best testosterone boosters? Here’s my top 6 list:

I have done extensive research, testing, and analysis over the years to come up with my list of the absolute best testosterone boosters. As a Certified Nutrition Coach, I have the ability to conduct thorough SFP (supplement facts panel) analysis to draw conclusions, and I combine my analysis with personal experience as well. I have personally tested all of these supplements…plus, I even had my testosterone levels checked before and after!

Taking all of this into consideration, here’s what I have determined are the best testosterone boosters on the market right now…

1. TestoGen (Best testosterone booster overall for both sex drive and muscle mass)

testogen review

Testogen fills out the number 1 spot on a number of supplement review sites and for good reason. Testogen is without question one of the best testosterone booster supplements on the market with an overall potency of over 2,000 MG per serving, a big dosage of D-Aspartic Acid, and 10 active ingredients known to increase testosterone levels. As a general rule of thumb, more active ingredients = more testosterone!

Testogen also recently updated its formula with 5 new ingredients, including vitamin K and Magnesium. The benefit of vitamin K is huge seeing that it helps the body more intelligently absorb vitamin D (which is super important for testosterone production).

Overall, this is the most comprehensively formulated, highly potent, and effective test booster on the market. I strongly recommend giving it a try. When I had my testosterone levels tested before and after taking Testogen, I saw a MASSIVE spike in testosterone production after only 30 days. You can read my full review linked below to learn more about my personal experience and results I got when I was taking Testogen.

Ingredients:

  • D-Aspartic Acid
  • Fenugreek
  • Tribulus Terrestris

2. Testonine (Best for those looking to increase muscle mass and boost libido)

Testonine testosterone boosterTestonine is a brand new testosterone supplement that just emerged on the market earlier this year. It has quickly become one of my personal favorites as a Nutrition Coach based on how impressive the Supplement Facts Panel (SFP) is. It’s truly incredible. Testonine contains every single one of the above mentioned best testosterone booster ingredients. In fact, it actually contains a total of 18 essential vitamins, minerals, and potent herbal extracts that can help maximize your testosterone levels.

To name of just a few of the key ingredients, Testonine contains Zinc, Tongkat Ali, Maca Root, and Ginseng…and we’re not talking about small dosages here. The potency of each dosage is incredibly high, which is something I always love to see. Every serving has 50 grams of Zinc, 400 milligrams of Tongkat Ali, 250 milligrams of Maca Root, and 125 milligrams of Ginseng…those are all massive dosages and certainly enough to produce results in my opinion.

Bottom Line: Testonine certainly earned its place on this list and is a very close second to Testogen. You really can’t go wrong with either of these two particular supplements due to their incredibly potent formulas, diverse ingredient selection, and very impressive dosage sizes. I would strongly recommend Testonine, almost as strongly as I recommend Testogen.

3. Prime Male (Decent option for boosting libido)

Prime Male - Best booster on the Market

Prime Male is a solid number 3 on our T-boosters list, but there is a little distance between this and our number one recommendation above. Prime Male’s formula is robust and more potent than most of your average plays out there.

Some Prime Male reviews assert that the formula has “just the right amount of ingredients.” For some men, too many potent ingredients all at once, like what is found in Testogen, give them “too much” of a boost (yes, this happens, believe it or not). Our review (linked below) is worth a read.

Ingredients:

  • D-Aspartic Acid
  • Mucuna Pruriens
  • Vitamin D
  • Ginseng
  • Zinc

4. TestoFuel (Decent option for muscle mass)

Testofuel Testosterone Booster Review

Peak Health Labs, Inc. is one of the biggest supplement manufactures in the world. One of their main conceptions, TestoFuel, is a darn good option for any man attempting to naturally boost his testosterone. TestoFuel aims to increase libido, lower body fat, and boost the energy levels. For the most part, TestoFuel ingredients back up the manufacturer’s claims. This is undoubtedly one of the best testosterone boosters on the market…

  • D-Aspartic Acid
  • Vitamin D
  • Fenugreek
  • Zinc
  • Ginseng

5. TestoTEK (Good option for sex drive increase)

TestoTEK V3 bottle and capsules

TestoTEK V3 earned a spot on this list with ease. In the new and improved version of TestoTEK, the dosages of the three most important ingredients have all been dramatically increased.

D-Aspartic Acid, which is the most crucial ingredient in our opinion, has been increased by 25% to 2,500 MG per serving. The next most important ingredient, Fenugreek, got a dosage boost of 70% up to 125 MG per serving,

Last but not least, Mucuna Pruriens was boosted up to 225 MG for a total increase of over 30%…that should be enough to help significantly influence testosterone levels. With that being said, even after all of these dosages were increased, Testogen still provides higher dosages, which is why it still has not been dethroned!

Ingredients:

  • D-Aspartic Acid
  • Fenugreek
  • Zinc
  • Mucuna Pruriens
  • Oyster Extract
  • Nettle Root Extract
  • Vitamin D

6. Bonus: Nugenix (Best for beginners seeking a mild boost in testosterone levels)

nugenix

Nugenix is potentially the most mainstream product on our list. Former White Sox first basemen, Frank Thomas, is the Nugenix spokesman in a series of ads that air during prime time news across multiple markets and demographics. If you’ve looked for a T-booster online or offline, you’ve no doubt come across Nugenix.

Nugenix is definitely a top player in the world of natural T-boosters, but over the years, its ingredient amounts and diversity have been overshadowed by less popular brands looking to take away Nugenix’s market share.

Nugenix has a solid formula, which is why I continue to feature it on our list. If Nugenix ever decides to update their formula again, I would consider moving it up on this list. However, for now, Nugenix is simply not potent enough to compete with the top dogs.

Ingredients:

  • Fenugreek
  • Zinc
  • Citrulline
  • Tribulus Terrestris
  • Vitamin D

Natural Testosterone Boosters Vs. Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and natural testosterone supplements are two approaches aimed at boosting testosterone levels in the body. Both are designed to help boost testosterone production for people with Low Testosterone (otherwise known as Low T). Low Testosterone can be devastating, but the good news is there are many options for men suffering from Low T. The two main solutions for Low Testosterone differ significantly in terms of their mechanisms, efficacy, and regulation. Here’s an overview of the key differences:

Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)

  1. Method of Administration:
    • Testosterone replacement therapy involves the administration of exogenous testosterone, typically in the form of injections, patches, gels, or pellets implanted under the skin. These methods deliver a controlled and measurable amount of testosterone into the body.
  2. Hormone Levels:
    • Testosterone therapy results in a direct increase in circulating testosterone levels. The goal is to restore testosterone levels to within the normal range for optimal health and well-being. Personally, one of my biggest issues with testosterone therapy is that it utilizes synthetic testosterone as opposed to stimulating natural testosterone production within the body like natural testosterone boosters do.
  3. Regulation:
    • Testosterone therapy is a medical intervention prescribed and overseen by healthcare professionals. It requires careful monitoring of hormone levels, potential side effects, and adjustments to the treatment plan based on individual responses. The bottom line here for me is that it’s just a ton of work and is incredibly expensive compared to natural testosterone boosters.
  4. Effectiveness:
    • TRT is generally effective in raising testosterone levels, especially in individuals diagnosed with testosterone deficiency. It can lead to improvements in symptoms associated with low testosterone, such as fatigue, low libido, and mood changes.
  5. Potential Side Effects:
    • While generally well-tolerated, there can be many testosterone therapy side effects, including changes in mood, acne, fluid retention, and in some cases, an increase in red blood cell count. Long-term safety is an area of ongoing research.

Natural Testosterone Supplements

  1. Ingredients:
    • Natural testosterone supplements often contain a combination of vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts, and other compounds believed to support testosterone production. Examples include zinc, vitamin D, tribulus terrestris, and fenugreek. Many of these nutrients have been shown to potentially help support testosterone production in clinical trials.
  2. Hormone Levels:
    • Natural testosterone supplements work by providing the body with nutrients that are essential for testosterone synthesis or by including herbs thought to have testosterone-boosting properties. They do not directly introduce exogenous testosterone into the body. Instead, these supplements are designed to help naturally promote testosterone production within the body.
  3. Regulation:
    • Natural testosterone supplements are available over-the-counter and are not subject to the same strict regulations as pharmaceutical interventions. The quality and effectiveness of these supplements can vary, and they may not undergo the same rigorous testing as prescription medications.
  4. Effectiveness:
    • The effectiveness of natural testosterone supplements is variable. Some individuals may experience modest increases in testosterone levels, while others may not see significant changes. Results can depend on factors such as individual health status, nutritional status, and the specific formulation of the supplement. Also, keep in mind that the supplement will not do the entire job for you. If you really want to boost testosterone production, you need to be lifting weights and dieting properly.
  5. Potential Side Effects:
    • Natural testosterone supplements are generally considered safe when used as directed. However, individual responses can vary, and some people may experience side effects or interactions with other medications. In my opinion as a Nutrition Coach, natural supplements are the way to go, but please note I am NOT a doctor, and you should ALWAYS consult your primary care physician before taking ANY supplement.

Other Considerations

  • Prescription vs. Over-the-Counter: Testosterone therapy is a prescription-based medical intervention, whereas natural testosterone supplements are available over-the-counter without a prescription. Obviously, if you have Low Testosterone, you should always listen to what your primary care physician says. I’m simply pointing out that testosterone boosters are more convenient.
  • Direct vs. Supportive Action: Testosterone therapy directly introduces exogenous testosterone into the body, while natural testosterone boosting supplements work by providing nutrients that support the body’s natural testosterone production. I will also add that based on my personal experience, the best testosterone boosters (especially my top ranked one) do an excellent job of it.
  • Monitoring and Adjustments: TRT requires ongoing monitoring and adjustments under the guidance of healthcare professionals, while natural testosterone boosting supplements are often self-administered without medical supervision. When I personally tested what I have deemed to be the best testosterone boosters on the market, I actually had my testosterone levels checked before starting the supplements and after finishing them. So while I was not under medical supervision, I was sort of conducting a clinical trial on myself, and I got amazing results with Testogen specifically…that’s ultimately why I ranked it #1.

What is the best test booster on the market? My conclusion

At the end of the day, all of these are great testosterone boosters, but Testogen stands out as the single best testosterone booster overall for several reasons. Testogen has the highest overall potency at 3,200 MG per serving, which makes it the most effective testosterone supplement overall.

Additionally, it contains the largest dosages of the most important ingredients. One of the stand-out dosages is D-Aspartic Acid at 2,500 MG per serving, which is the highest in the industry.

Another very important detail is the fact that their ingredients are standardized to high percentages of the active compounds. You aren’t just taking whole plant extracts, as is the case with the rest of the supplements on this list…instead, you are taking carefully standardized highly potent versions of these extracts.

In terms of the ingredient list, the level of standardization, the overall potency, and just the formula as a whole, Testogen really blows everything else out of the water. Add on top of that my amazing personal experience with the product, and you have a truly remarkable supplement here in my opinion. You can read more about my personal experience in my review.

FAQs on supplements to increase testosterone

Do testosterone boosters really work?

Yes, there is plenty of clinical evidence to support the efficacy of testosterone boosters. More specifically, there has been a plethora of clinical studies conducted on the primary ingredients testosterone boosters utilize, and the results have been very promising. If you’re taking a testosterone supplement with the right ingredients in it, there’s a good chance it will work.

Which testosterone booster is best?

The ones that have the most significant dosages of the highest quality ingredients are the best. It is all about the overall potency, ingredient selection, and proper standardization of active compounds…taking all these things into consideration, Testogen is the best. In addition to my analysis of the formula, I also got the best personal results with Testogen, so this question is a no brainer for me personally.

What is the most effective way to increase testosterone levels?

The best way to increase testosterone levels is to take a multi-faceted approach to the problem. The answer isn’t just diet, or exercise, or supplements…it’s all three. Combine a healthy diet with regular exercise (at least 5 days per week) and a high quality testosterone booster, and you’ll have the most potential for serious results.

What does testosterone booster do sexually?

If you are able to successfully boost your testosterone levels, you could be able to achieve your ideal sex drive as a result. A boost in libido is a commonly reported benefit of high quality testosterone supplements. Testosterone increase and libido increase are highly correlated.

Can testosterone increase size?

Testosterone unfortunately can not increase size…almost nothing can increase size. With that being said, it could improve blood circulation, which could in turn lead to higher quality erections in theory.

What happens when a man takes testosterone?

If the testosterone is naturally produced, as is the case with natural testosterone supplements, then there are tremendous benefits to be had. Theoretically, if you are in fact able to increase testosterone levels, you could improve lean muscle mass, decrease body fat, boost sex drive, and improve confidence.

Do test boosters make your balls smaller?

It’s highly unlikely that you would experience any difference in the size of your balls. This is generally a side effect that comes with using anabolic steroids, not natural testosterone boosters. One of the main reasons people choose natural supplements is to avoid side effects like this one.
